Modeling of flexible overlapping organization in resource-constrained multi-agent systems under spatio-temporal constraints

Abstract

In resource-constrained multi-agent systems, agents often need to collaborate with other agents and acquire resources in order to increase overall utility or perform complex tasks. In open systems, uncertainty in resource demand and supply leads to information asymmetry and increased competition, which increases the complexity of resource allocation and the costs of cooperation. Therefore, this paper constructed a flexible framework of overlapping organisation under spatio-temporal constraints. This framework integrated spatiotemporal constraints to enhance the timeliness of information and the rationality of resource allocation, while supporting flexible overlapping organisation to allow agents to subscribe to multiple resources simultaneously, further alleviating resource constraints. In addition, it proposed a spatio-temporal constraint-based resource selection algorithm to address the problem of uneven resource utilization, and introduced a collaborative strategy generation algorithm to reduce resource competition. Finally, the proposed method was evaluated in an open multi-agent system simulation environment by analysing the task completion quantity, task success rate and resource utilisation under different resource demand and agent mobility scenarios. Experimental results show that using the flexible overlapping organization framework under spatio-temporal constraints can effectively alleviate resource constraints and improve task success rates and resource utilization.
