Abstract

With the popularization and continuous expansion of the application scope of power IoT devices, the demand for security and authentication mechanisms of these devices is increasing day by day. Traditional authentication methods suffer from complex key management and high computational costs, thus there is an urgent need for a lightweight and efficient authentication protocol to meet the security requirements of power IoT devices. This article proposed a new lightweight authentication protocol based on physically unclonable function(PUF) to address this issue. The protocol improved the traditional PUF authentication mechanism and designed an extended challenge response(CRP) structure to achieve high security authentication of power IoT devices at low cost. On the basis of introducing the security challenges of power IoT devices and the principles of PUF technology, this article elaborated in detail on the design ideas and key steps of the authentication protocol proposed in this paper, and analyzed and evaluated its security and performance in applications. The research results indicate that the proposed lightweight authentication protocol based on PUF has good performance in both security and efficiency, and can effectively address the security threats faced by power IoT devices, with certain practical and promotional value.
