Abstract

To vectorize architectural painted pattern images that contain reusable graphic elements, while preserving the independence and transformation parameters of the reusable graphic elements, this paper proposed a vectorization method for architectural painted pattern images based on element transformation. This method first divides complex patterns into local patterns; then conducts multi-class element detection on the local patterns to complete element filtering and initialize element transformation parameters; subsequently, an improved differentiable synthesis algorithm is used to calculate the transformation parameters of the elements; ultimately achieving vectorization of the pattern image while retaining the transformation parameters of the reusable graphic elements. Experimental results demonstrate that this method can achieve a smaller image reconstruction error on architectural painted pattern datasets, while also preserving the transformation parameters of the reusable graphic elements. Based on the characteristics of the painted patterns, a variety of vectorization metrics are proposed to compare the performance of various methods. This method has advantages in terms of reconstruction accuracy and the retention of element transformation parameters, and can be applied to the vectorization of images with reusable graphic elements.
