Image dehazing algorithm driven by contextual collaboration and hybrid attention mechanism

Abstract

Existing dehazing models often struggle with uneven haze distribution across pixels and regions, which leads to inadequate feature extraction and loss of texture and edge details, thereby limiting performance. To address this, this paper proposed HACNet, a novel image dehazing method based on a multi-domain attention mechanism and contextual collaboration. HACNet introduces a hybrid attention fusion algorithm, which leverages the multi-domain attention (MDA) mechanism to integrate local and global features, enabling refined feature processing and adaptive weight allocation. Additionally, this algorithm combines a Context Adaptive Network (CAF) with multi-scale expansion convolution to enhance the model's ability to capture multi-scale features and effectively handle local haze variations. Experimental results show that HACNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the RESIDE, NH-Haze, and Dense-Haze datasets. HACNet improves dehazing performance by capturing multi-scale haze features and balancing local and global details. It shows strong potential for real-world applications.
