Searching for non-adversarial, uncooperative target with non-constant speed on cycle

Abstract

Searching for a target in a known environment is one of the basic tasks of the robot, related problems have received much attention in the research of computational geometry and robotics. The target search problem requires the robot to adopt an efficient strategy to minimize the time to find the target. Assuming that k robots with maximum speed 1 are placed on a unit circle. A non-adversarial, uncooperative target moves along the circle with variable speed. The task of the robot is to search for the target. Search algorithms were developed according to the number of robots and the knowledge of the target, such as the direction of movement and the speed function. For the single-robot case, this paper combined with the characteristics of the mo-del and used visualization diagram to study the trajectories of the robot and the target during the search process. By analyzing the general requirements that the algorithm should satisfy under various conditions, it proved the optimality of the proposed algorithm, and obtained the corresponding upper and lower bounds with respect to the speed function of the target. Further, it extended these results to the case of k≥2, and proved the corresponding upper and lower bounds. Finally, this paper verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis through simulation experiments.
