Lightweight face forgery detection by fusion of spatial and high-frequency features

Abstract

The current face forgery detection methods based on vision Transformer(ViT) have high computational complexity. However, the lightweight algorithm cannot capture the subtle traces of forgery resulting in low detection accuracy. Aiming at the low detection efficiency of lightweight models, the paper designed a high-frequency component extraction module and a spatial-frequency cross-fertilisation module, and combined them with the lightweight convolutional additive self-attention ViT. The high-frequency component extraction module extracted high-frequency image details revealing subtle forgery traces, and the spatialfrequency cross-fertilisation module utilized cross-attention to fuse high-frequency and spatial features. Compared with the backbone network, the test AUC of the proposed method improved by 12.29 percentage points on FaceForensics++dataset and 7.18 percentage points in the cross-dataset experiments on DFDC dataset. The experimental results show that the method improves detection efficiency while reducing computational resource consumption, striking a balance between efficiency and performance.
