Attribute reduction of multi-fuzzy β covering rough sets

Abstract

To address the issues of the classical fuzzy β covering rough set, such as the lower approximation not necessarily being included in the upper approximation, and the difficulty of a unified threshold β in adapting to different data distributions when extending fuzzy β covering to multi-fuzzy β covering, a multi-scale threshold method is introduced in combination with fuzzy β neighborhoods to propose a reduction method based on multi-fuzzy β covering rough sets. First, the similarity between samples is characterized using fuzzy β neighborhoods, and a granular structure satisfying the inclusion relationship of fuzzy upper and lower approximations is constructed based on these neighborhoods. Second, a multi-scale threshold β set is designed to accommodate the differences in data distribution that may arise in the construction of fuzzy covering approximation spaces. Finally, comparative experiments are conducted on 12 public datasets between the proposed algorithm and four other algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs well in terms of reduction length, classification accuracy, and stability. It effectively simplifies data and provides a new option for dealing with complex uncertain information.
