Integrated detection method for Microblog rumor based on topic decoupling of propagation graph

Abstract

Recent research on microblog rumor detection uses structured information to learn the dissemination process of microblogs and enhance their representation. However, existing methods ignore the differences in propagation across different topics, which leads to inaccurate modeling and affects detection performance. To solve this problem, the paper proposed an integrated rumor detection method based on topic decoupling of the propagation graph. The method first constructed a microblog propagation graph based on reposting relationships and initialized the graph using text content and user information. Then, it applied a variational autoencoder topic model to decouple the topics in the propagation graph. It also applied a self-attention graph pooling mechanism to learn topic-level representations of the graph. Finally, it designed a hierarchical ensemble mechanism to detect rumors from both local and global perspectives. Experiments on public microblog datasets verified the effectiveness and rationality of the proposed method. Compared with baseline methods such as BiGCN, MGLAN, and FGCN, the proposed method achieved significant improvements in accuracy, recall, and F1 score. The experimental results demonstrate that the method performs effectively in rumor detection tasks.
