Knowledge tracing based on heterogeneous graph and session graph

Abstract

This paper proposes HSKT, a novel knowledge tracing framework that integrates a heterogeneous graph and a temporal session graph. We construct a Heterogeneous Relation Graph (HRG) to model multi-semantic relationships among students, exercises, and knowledge concepts, incorporating fine-grained behavioral features via edge-aware graph attention. We also build a Temporal Session Graph (SG) , dynamically weighting its edges using the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve, and design a T-GCN and GRU architecture to capture spatio-temporal learning dynamics. An attention mechanism then fuses the static HRG and dynamic SG representations for prediction. Experiments on five public datasets show that HSKT achieves significant AUC improvements, demonstrating its effectiveness for personalized education.
