K-means clustering based on customers density and dynamic virtual multitasking iwd for cold-chain logistics distribution

Abstract

Aiming at the shortcomings of existing cold chain logistics distribution, such as the failure to consider customer groups deviating from the distribution center when allocating refrigerated trucks, and the tendency of the Intelligent Water Drops (IWD) algorithm to easily fall into local optima in later stages, this paper proposed a cold chain logistics distribution method that integrates customer density based k-means clustering method (KCCD) and a Dynamic Virtual Multitasking IWD(DVMIWD) algorithm. First, it designed a KCCD method to assign customers to suitable refrigerated trucks. Then, it introduced the multitasking optimization concept to construct a virtual multitasking environment. In the DVMIWD algorithm, it introduced auxiliary populations to assist the evolution of the main population. Once the auxiliary population stagnated and can no longer transfer effective information to the main population, the process eliminated the auxiliary population and regenerated a new one of the same scale from an excellent solution information library. Finally, after validating the effectiveness of the KCCD-DVMIWD algorithm using the classic CVRP problem, the study applied it to cold chain logistics distribution problems of different scales. Simulation experiments show that, compared to static auxiliary populations, the KCCD-DVMIWD algorithm reduces the average total cost by up to 0.8% and 1.04% respectively when solving cold chain logistics distribution instances n22 and n26.
