Abstract

To address the complex optimization problem of UAV three-dimensional path planning, this study aimed to enhance algorithm performance and path quality. The original Crested Porcupine Optimizer (CPO) was systematically modified, and an improved version named the Dynamic Scaling Crested Porcupine Optimizer (DSCPO) was proposed. An elite random opposition-based learning strategy was introduced to improve initial population quality. A dynamic fitness scaling mechanism was designed to adaptively adjust selection pressure. The position update strategy during the defense phase was optimized. A hybrid differential mutation strategy was integrated to enhance global exploration and local exploitation capabilities. On 11 representative CEC2017 benchmark functions, DSCPO obtained the best mean values on 9 functions. Its overall ranking significantly outperformed other comparative algorithms, demonstrating superior convergence accuracy, speed, and stability. Furthermore, DSCPO was applied to UAV path planning in complex 3D environments. Simulation results show that DSCPO plans shorter, smoother, and safer flight paths. The best path length is 72.849, the average length is 74.873, and the standard deviation is merely 0.027. All performance metrics surpass those of the compared algorithms. These results verify the effectiveness and reliability of DSCPO in path planning tasks.
