Cross-border data sharing scheme with attribute-based searchable encryption supporting bidirectional trust

Abstract

Cross-border data sharing is driving international cooperation and industrial innovation. However, complex cross-border network environments hinder data owners from tracking data reception and usage. Additionally, data users fail to trace data sources or verify ciphertext integrity. This paper proposed a Cross-Border Data Sharing Scheme with Attribute-Based Searchable Encryption Supporting Bidirectional Trust (BTDS) to address these trust issues. On the data owner side, the scheme constructed a full-process tracking chain based on attribute signatures. The mechanism realized forward tracking from exit centers to receiving nodes and supported backward tracing from data users to original data sources. Meanwhile, the study designed a dual-index structure to enable user behavior auditing in the ciphertext state. On the data user side, the paper proposed a verifiable random authorization mechanism. This mechanism automatically triggered the proxy re-encryption process after user confirmation. It achieved decoupled storage of keys and ciphertexts alongside controllable forwarding. Additionally, the study further designed an efficient attribute-based searchable encryption algorithm. The IND-CP-CKA security model proof and experimental evaluations verify the scheme. The proposed scheme demonstrates superiority in security and auditability.
