Performance analysis of CR-RSMA networks with multi-RIS and HARQ assistance

Abstract

To address direct link blockage in practical communications, this paper proposed a cooperative scheme integrating multiple reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) . Within the framework of cognitive radio (CR) networks, a secondary transmitter (ST) adopted rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) to deliver information to two secondary users (SUs) . Under Nakagami-m fading, derivation yielded signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) for RSMA users. Based on this derivation, this paper obtained outage probability (OP) for two SUs and system throughput under HARQ mechanism. Further analysis compared system performance under perfect and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to the single-RIS-assisted CR-RSMA network, the proposed multi-RIS-assisted scheme reduces the transmit power required for the near user by approximately 15.8 dB at an OP of 1.0×10-3. Moreover, the proposed scheme effectively compensates for system performance degradation caused by imperfect SIC. The cooperative multi-RIS and HARQ scheme significantly reduces transmit power demand of CR-RSMA networks and enhances link reliability in cognitive radio networks.
