Bayesian network node ordering learning based on conditional constraint local orientation and global integration

Abstract

The K2 algorithm for Bayesian networks strongly depends on node ordering. Non-target association interference and likelihood equivalence constraints often affect existing ordering methods. This paper proposed a node ordering learning method based on Condition-Constrained Local Orientation and Global Integration (CLOI) . The method identified local neighborhoods under the MMPC framework and reduced non-target association interference through hierarchical condition-set screening. It then combined stable collider structures with the Normalized Independent Heterogeneity Score (NIHS) to perform progressive local orientation. Finally, it generated node orderings that satisfy the prior constraints of K2 through global integration. Experiments on four standard Bayesian networks show that CLOI outperforms comparison methods in F1 score and correct edges (CE) in 75% of the medium and large sample experimental setups. The results indicate that CLOI has good cross-network stability and generates higher-quality node orderings.
