Intelligent algorithm for estimating target position using channel state information

Abstract

To address the difficulty of directly obtaining high-resolution angle of arrival (AoA) and time of flight (ToF) joint spectra from channel state information (CSI) in Wi-Fi networks, which limits high-accuracy localization, we propose a CNN_ToF_Mamba intelligent algorithm for target position estimation through CSI-to-AoA-ToF joint-spectrum mapping. We build the proposed method on a convolutional encoder-decoder and design a ToF enhancement module to explicitly enhance frequency variations and local peak structures along the delay dimension. We further introduce a two-dimensional bidirectional Mamba module to capture global dependencies in the AoA-ToF joint spectrum. To reduce the impact of the large dynamic range of spectrum values on model training, we adopt input normalization, logarithmic label transformation, and a joint loss function as training strategies. Experimental results show that CNN_ToF_Mamba achieves a Raw R² of 0.9998, a Raw RMSE of 8.1394, and a Peak Error of 0.995 px. Compared with DenseED, the proposed method reduces the mean positioning error to 0.063 m and the standard deviation to 0.042 m. These results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively improves AoA-ToF joint-spectrum reconstruction and further enhances high-accuracy localization performance in Wi-Fi networks.
