Secure shuffling and verifiable poisoning-resistant federated learning framework

Abstract

To address threats such as model reconstruction and poisoning attacks in federated learning, this work proposed a secure and robust federated learning framework. The framework designs a dual-domain secret sharing security mechanism to ensure the privacy of model parameters. Based on a secure shuffling protocol, a secure median algorithm was developed to solve the parameter leakage problem present in existing median-based computations. Median gradients and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to perform poisoning detection in the ciphertext domain. The framework introduces a verifiable mechanism to detect malicious behavior of auxiliary nodes and to ensure the correctness of the aggregation results. Experimental results show that the proposed framework maintains 90% accuracy even when the poisoning ratio approaches 50%. Compared with existing work, the framework achieves nearly one order of magnitude improvement in speed. Furthermore, when the model dimension reaches 217, the communication cost is reduced by approximately 40%.
