Well-structured consistency verification method for UML multi-view models based on theorem proof

Abstract

To address the challenge of well-formedness and consistency verification in UML multi-view models of complex systems, this paper proposed a dual-layer verification framework that integrates structural mapping with theorem proving. The framework systematically tackles modeling quality risks caused by cross-view semantic entanglement and structural coupling. Specifically, it employed a structural mapping-based invariant verification algorithm (SMIVA) to automatically extract structural correspondences among three UML views and generate well-formedness assertions ensuring key invariants. Using the interactive theorem prover Coq, the framework constructed a formal assertion system to transform behavioral semantics and state transitions into decidable propositions for semantic consistency. A case study on an e-commerce system demonstrated the successful proof of 13 well-formed consistency theorems. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of this method in assertion coverage, automation capability, and verification efficiency, providing strong support for improving UML modeling quality and automated analysis.
